For our client Allsafe, an organization dedicated to providing space and creating a more spacious life, we are looking for a Head of IT & Digital. A strategic IT specialist with a clear vision, who fits an organization in which the structure needs to be further developed due to rapid growth.

In close collaboration with the Chief Intelligence & Information Officer, you are ultimately responsible for everything in the field of IT & Digital, including strategy, tactical and operational. Establishing scalable IT processes and structure without losing the flexibility of the organization – creating a well-oiled machine is your biggest task and challenge. To achieve this, you work structurally with your team, suppliers and colleagues and you work purposefully on the further improvement and professionalization of infrastructure management, (business-critical) applications, security, privacy ‘way of working’ and regular office automation.

Our ideal candidate

The ideal candidate is a strategic IT specialist with a clear vision, experience in DGA structure/dynamics and a hands-on mentality. Someone who is decisive, can independently develop and implement both a short and long-term strategy and knows how to deal with resistance. He/she is highly analytical, data-driven and results-oriented. Furthermore, the ideal candidate is strongly action-oriented, has initiative and is able to take ownership in a fast-growing organization. He/she has the intrinsic will to score. Someone who thinks in solutions. It is also important that the person fits an organization in which the structure needs to be further developed due to rapid growth.

Specific experience and competencies include:

  • Education & experience Academic thinking level with at least 7+ years of work experience in IT and/or digital roles; including 5+ years in (indirect) leadership positions;
  • Experience in a commercial B2C environment;
  • Experience in drawing up a digital roadmap to implement the digital & IT strategy;
  • Data driven mindset;

Behavior & skills:

  • Strategically strong and able to actually realize execution;
  • Strong project and process management experience, can implement structures and processes;
  • Strong personality (curious, constructively critical, driven, no-nonsense, proactive and loyal), and hands-on mentality;
  • Connector, and at the same time able to challenge in the right way;
  • Has experience in supervising change projects;
  • Is strategically and tactically strong, can translate from business to IT;
  • Experience in building and maintaining a new IT structure, architecture and application landscape;
  • Experience building and working with a scalable technology stack. Understanding of the potential and optimal use of automation and digitalization in general;
  • Logical thinker, able to look for the pragmatic short-term solution that fits in the light of a long-term stable IT solution;
  • Experience in outsourcing matters properly for continuity and building a working ecosystem with third parties to keep risks managed;

About Allsafe

Allsafe is an organization dedicated to providing space and creating a more spacious life, both personally and professionally. They strive to make things easier to manage. The concept of mini-storage (self-storage) originated in America and has been a well-known phenomenon there for some time. Until recently, this option did not exist in the Netherlands. Due to the precious nature of space in the Netherlands, entrepreneur Eric Stubbé founded Allsafe in 1999 to provide that desired space. In May 1999, the first branch was opened in Amsterdam West, making Allsafe the oldest company in the Netherlands offering outdoor storage for both companies and private individuals.

The company currently has 42 locations, with 10 in development, spread throughout the Netherlands, which enable both private and business storage. The ambition is to grow to 400 branches within ten years.

Allsafe currently offers various products and services, such as Mini Storage for household effects, archives, facility storage, webshop service, supplies, and so on. Also included are Robotic Storage, Mr. Box, BandenThuis for replacing and changing winter and summer tires, Engine Rooms as a hotel for cars and motorcycles, and a Logistics Hub are among the offerings. In addition, a number of web shops fall under the Allsafe flag, including cheapverhuisdozen.nl, which serve as lead generators for the Mini Storage.

The company is constantly innovating. For example, Allsafe has the scoop of the first Robotic Self Storage in Utrecht and will soon open a similar branch in Amsterdam. Through the My Allsafe app, customers can perform various tasks such as identification, unlocking and calling up their storage unit – all done easily via their mobile phone. This innovative system, developed in collaboration with Dutch parties, is a novelty outside the United States. The company has also developed the Allsafe Engine Rooms, a hotel for cars and motorcycles, where vehicles are safely stored.

The current challenge for management is to take the company to the next phase of faster growth. The ambition is to expand in a controlled manner and grow internationally to 400 branches in the coming years.
